New video montage of Naomi kickin' some serious butt at softball!

The PINK PANTHERS had a double header today against some of the better teams in the league.  They were undefeated until the first game today.  They played great, but were up against a team that was much bigger, older and more experienced.  This is a 6-under league, and all of the girls on the Hurricanes were on the older end of 6.  The Pink Panthers only have 3 girls that are even 6 already.  Never the less, they played well and hung in there for a close game, but also their first loss.  They won the second game and are now a very respectable 6-1, with 5 or 6 more games to go.

Naomi played really well.  She NEVER had to use the Tball tee, and got on base every single time and even though she got stranded on base several times, she did score a few runs too.   The video is a compilation of several clips of her at bats, fielding and a teammate’s cheer!

One of the BEST parts about living in Orlando!

We were getting the dinner dishes all cleaned up and heading the kids toward bed. It was that time of the day on Sunday where we all start to fade a bit from a long busy day. I just happened to turn on the TV and noticed that the local news was covering the space shuttle Discovery and it was about to launch. From our house on a clear day we can see the daytime launches pretty good, but this was a later “night time launch” (actually about dusk) so we hoped we would see it better. I grabbed my flip video and yelled for the kids and we watched it sail into space. THIS sight never gets old. I talk to people in my neighborhood that have watched launches from here since the early days of the space program, long before the shuttles and they all agree. It is always an amazing sight to see.

And sadly, besides trick or treating with the kids on Halloween, it is about the only time the neighborhood comes out and even speaks to each other. It is always short, but always a nice visit as we all stare straight into the sky watching a rocket full of very smart, very brave men and women blast into the sky to go make amazing things happen on their mission (and in the end likely make our lives better with what they learn).

This is a great part about living here. I will miss them when they are gone in a few years.

Naomi playing softball...

Here is a video of Naomi’s in her 2nd softball game with her team the Pink Panthers.
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Nfg8Gov-sD8

In her league things are different. It was supposed to be a T-ball softball league, but apparently all the teams agreed to change it to coach pitch/Tball which is much more fun. The batter gets 4 pitches from the coach and if they do notget a hit in that 4 pitches, they get 2 chances off a Tee. Odd numbers but suffice to say, at this point in the season, most girls end up hitting offthe tee anyway.

Naomi joined the team late and missed all the preseason practices. Sheliterally started with the team on the opening day game. (and in that gamewent 1 for 1 with a single and run to her credit. She also fielded an out at third, so the coach has already zeroed in on her. She went to 1 practiceand then here we are at game 2. Again she was perfect 3 for 3 at bat (only having to use the tee at her first at bat) and the team is still undefeated.

In the video there is a long time between her first on base and the next batter’s hit. She was stranded on base after the second hit “because they had batted through the order” or “because they scored 4 runs” – not sure which, but it did not make any sense to me either way.

Then at the end of the game, the home team insisted on a hard stop at the endof the hour, even though they still had an at bat in our coaches mind AND they were losing by 4 runs... There coach was arguing the point so, as confused as she was, our coach excepted the victory and allowed them to call the game.

We won (12-4), so no one is worried about it, but I guess I need to learn the rules so I can keep up.

Apple just blows me away with how ahead of the game they are!! Look!

I am in the Delta terminal of the Orlando International Airport and as I turn the corner headed to my gate, I see this!

Yes. It is exactly what it looks like. Apple has created a vending machine that sells iPods, iPhones, iPod Touch and Apple accessories!

Absolutely brilliant! You can't see it, but on the ends have vibrant color ads (top to bottom) showing iPods in many colors, etc. So when you head down the walkway, in either direction, you see it for sure.

Too bad I already have an iPhone, cause buying one here sure seemed like a cool thing to do!!
